Contents
Losartan K 50 mg, hydrochlorothiazide 12.5 mg
Indications/Uses
HTN for patients in whom combination therapy is appropriate.
Dosage/Direction for Use
1 tab once daily. If uncontrolled BP after 3 wk, may be increased to a max of 2 tab once daily.
Administration
May be taken with or without food.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to other sulfonamide-derived drugs. Patients w/ anuria. Pregnancy.
Special Precautions
Perform periodic determination of serum electrolytes. Hyperglycemia, diabetic patients. Impaired renal function. Symptomatic hypotension. Lactation.
Adverse Reactions
Abdominal pain, edema/swelling, palpitation, back pain, dizziness, cough, sinusitis, upper resp tract infection, rashes.
Drug Interactions
Losartan: Increased serum K w/ K-sparing diuretics (eg, spironolactone, triamterene, amiloride), K supplements or salt substitutes containing K. Blunted antihypertensive effects w/ NSAID indomethacin. Hydrochlorothiazide: Potentiation of orthostatic hypotension w/ alcohol, barbiturates or narcotics. Dosage adjustment of antidiabetic drugs (oral agents & insulin). Additive effect w/ other antihypertensive drug. Possible increased responsiveness of skeletal muscle relaxants. Reduced antihypertensive effects w/ NSAIDs.
